Can you hear me?? (Picture: Thomas Temple / Ross Parry)
It’s no wonder that confused cat looks so bewildered – he’s probably just trying to talk to you.
That’s according to a leading vet, who believes that cats can speak, and it’s just that useless humans can’t understand what they’re saying.
Speaking at the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants’ 2015 Feline Behaviour Conference (and breath), Dr Sharon Crowell- Davis, a leading professor of veterinary behaviour at the University of Georgia, explained that cats are nearly always trying to capture our attention.
‘When you’ve been at work or school all day, and your cat comes up and rubs back and forth against you, he may wrap his tail across your calves’, she said.
‘What your cat is doing is taking a friendly greeting behaviour that normally functions within their species and moves it to relating with the human species’.
