VENICE (CBSLA.com) — A suspect was injured Tuesday night in an officer-involved shooting under the iconic Venice sign.
A person contacted officers around 11:30 p.m. and reported that a man was harassing people who were walking by, police said.
Two officers responded to the scene. When they approached the suspect, a struggle took place and shots were fired.
The suspect was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital.
It was unclear if the man was armed.
“I can tell you that there is no weapon in the immediate area of the officer-involved shooting,” Meghan Aguilar of the LAPD said.
The suspect’s condition was unknown. No officers were injured in the incident.
The investigation was ongoing.
