PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island lawmakers will express how they feel, and decide if they want to further pursue a stadium being built on the vacant I-195 land for the PawSox.
House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello has called a closed-door Democratic caucus for Wednesday afternoon to discuss the topic with house lawmakers.
Speaker Mattiello tells us that he has retained Smith College economics professor Andrew Zimbalist as a consultant for the proposal.
The meeting will be similar to one Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo held last week with PawSox owners and others to talk about the proposed deal.
One snag in the deal includes Brown University owning a portion of the land where the ballpark would be built.
