WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets will make an announcement Monday morning about the return of its AHL affiliate to the Manitoba capital. Global Winnipeg will live stream the news conference on this page.
The Jets announced in March that its American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, will return to the city as early as the 2015-16.
The team was formerly known as the Manitoba Moose and played in Winnipeg starting in 1996, when the Jets left the city. The team moved to St. John’s in 2011, when the new Jets franchise played its first season at the MTS Centre.
The Montreal Canadiens AHL team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, will replace the IceCaps in Newfoundland.
The Jets affiliate is expected to play only a couple of seasons in Winnipeg, then move to Thunder Bay, Ont.
