VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A search is underway in the Van Nuys area for a parole suspect who authorities say has fled.
The Los Angeles Police Department says the suspect escaped from parole custody and may be handcuffed.
“LAPD is searching for what they’re saying is a parole suspect that was in custody, perhaps even in handcuffs that escaped from that parole officer and ran into this neighborhood,” Sky 9’s Stu Mundel reports.
The incident at the Van Nuys Police Station unfolded Monday afternoon.
Mundel said about three major blocks in the Van Nuys area have been cordoned off while authorities search for the suspect.
“They have some in the area and lots of officers on the ground,” Mundel said.
